Maui United Way - Maui Wildfires
About this Giving Opportunity
Update: Thanks to the generosity of our employees and physicians, we are pleased to announce that within hours of launching this giving campaign, we exceeded $100,000 in contributions, achieving the Kaiser Permanente match. This generosity is inspiring. If you would still like to contribute to these efforts, we have added three new organizations that are providing immediate on-the-ground support.
Multiple wildfires whipped by hurricane-force winds on the island of Maui have devastated communities, destroyed homes and businesses, injured many, and taken dozens of lives. The situation remains dynamic and fast-moving, the fires are not yet under control, many roads are blocked, and the full extent of the injuries and property damage may not be known for several days. What we do know is that Maui is a community in need of our care and support.
Kaiser Foundation Hospitals and Maui Health will make an immediate donation of $300,000 as a first step, to help our first responders with urgent needs. The donation will be split between three organizations: the American Red Cross of Hawaii, the Maui Food Bank, and the Salvation Army of Hawaii.
We know that many of you are interested in helping as well, so we have set up a matching gift opportunity. Kaiser Permanente will match the first $100,000 in total, from employee and physician donations.
